Jiankou Great Wall Resort
Beijing
China
- Client: Confidential Private Developer
Role: Lead Infrastructure Engineer
Scope: Sustainable Infrastructure Master Plan
Nestled within the rugged foothills of the Jiankou section of the Great Wall, this exclusive eco-resort blends luxury hospitality with environmental stewardship in one of China’s most iconic landscapes. The development required a holistic and context-sensitive infrastructure strategy that respected the site's historical significance and natural topography while enabling high-performance sustainability outcomes.
As Lead Engineer, we directed the sustainable infrastructure master plan, encompassing roadway and circulation design, lot layout optimization, earthworks, and utility routing strategies. Our approach emphasized minimal land disturbance and long-term resilience, integrating engineering with ecological design principles.

- Key to the project was the exploration and feasibility assessment of on-site renewable energy systems. Working alongside specialist consultants, we led the analysis of:
Geothermal heating and cooling systems to reduce operational carbon,
Biomass generation using local organic material to support district-scale energy needs,
Integrated stormwater and greywater systems designed for minimal environmental impact.
By balancing environmental performance with aesthetic and cultural sensitivity, the project sets a benchmark for resort infrastructure in heritage-protected zones.
